Our Employee’s on twitter

November 18th, 2009

We actually have a few employees on twitter and wanted to give a them a special shout out and give you the opportunity to follow them and see what they are up to.

@rhondaemily has been part of our daily activities since 2007 and works at the San Diego branch. She has done sample pick-up, lab work, and been a DNA Service specialist. She went to UCSD and is about to leave us soon for Medical School at the University of Miami. We will certainly miss her, but we are glad we can still keep up with her online.

@etonbiosynergy is written by Richard Tsai, who works at the North Carolina branch. He graduated from UC Irvine. He does business development and was instrumental at creating the peptide synthesis service for Eton. Richard plays a lot of sports in his spare time, specifically basketball. He also has a huge amount of passion for Biofuels, and you can often see him tweeting about it.

@tingbb Tina was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She moved to Houston at age two. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a degree in Biology. Since graduation, she has been a lab tech in the biotech field assisting in plasmid cloning and DNA hybridization. Tina loves any activity that involves water, whether it be swimming, snorkeling, or visiting the aquarium! She recently became a part of the Eton Bioscience team and is working at the new Houston branch as a bioservice specialist.

@hollybarnes works on business development and is also a bioservice specialist. She loves working in Biotech and has a passion for anything that deals with DNA and web 2.0. In her spare time she loves cooking, home decor, and shopping. She graduated from UCSD and really enjoys working on all three branches and looks forward to Eton expanding.

Follow Friday: Blog style

November 6th, 2009

As many of you may know, we are very active on our twitter account, and we are starting a small segment where we highlight a few we are following and why:

Today it is just a few San Diego Biotech twitter accounts:

@SDBN is a networking twitter account for just the twitter community. If you follow them you will find a mix of local events you can attend, happenings in the San Diego Community, and witty remarks about life in general. Thet also have a blog http://sdbn.org/

@MrGunn William Gunn is a San Diego local who is passionate about science, politics and anything related to both. He writes a Science blog that is fascinating and well researched (if we do say so ourselves). What I usually find on his twitter is articles he finds interesting as well as witty observations and good conversation in general.

@Comprendia is the twitter account of a Bioscience consulting group . They also write another science blog that gives useful tips for everyone who wants advice about business in the biotech community. They often write about how to effectively use social media for scientists, and have witty banter as well.

@biophase is a biotech staffing site in San Diego that helps people find jobs in the San Diego community. They are also very active in the local community and are a great resource for anyone looking for a job.

@idtdna is not just in San Diego but they have a branch there so we included them. Even though they are a phenomenal oligo synthesis service their twitter account isn’t just about business. Its about what is going on around them, what conferences they attend, and what is interesting in the biotech field.

There are many many more for us to recommend, even in the San Diego Community. Which we will continue later.

San Diego Networking in Biotech

August 11th, 2009

San Diego has some of the best networking opportunities in the area to be able to get out there and meet people in bioscience. Most include food, fun, and great information about the community around us. Here are some of the best that have events planned every one to two months:

SDBN or San Diego Biotech Network is a wonderful blog resource about the community as well as event planners that have events each month. Sometimes they specialize in how to use social media to better collaborate, to teaching you about local companies. Check their blog out regularly to find out where and when they are putting things on.

Women of Bioscience is a social gathering every other month. Basically it is just girls getting together at El Torito in La Jolla and chatting about what is going on in the bioscience arena. They also include gift raffles and is completely free. (Everything is put on by local sponsors.)

SDBDG , or San Diego Biotech Discussion Group is another bi-monthly group that spotlights a sponsored company as well as introduces a lot of small local biotechs. It’s held at the last wednesday of every other month at 530 pm. Food is provided and its also free.

Hope you get the chance to get out there and meet some new scientists in San Diego!

Celebrate our new peptide synthesis service with us and save 20%

July 14th, 2009

Eton Bioscience has been providing high quality, convenient DNA services since we opened in the summer of 2003. Now, in the summer of 2009, we are extending our expertise with bio-services to include peptide synthesis.

Everything about our peptide services is high quality and easy, starting with our online ordering system that takes away any doubt from the “did I order this properly?” After the order is placed, processing it begins almost immediately. After the peptide is completed, it’s quality is assured because we purify it with a HPLC system that has fraction collection capabilities. We will also confirm its identity with a state-of-the-art mass spectrophotometer. Each of these will be confirmed with reports that will be sent back to you with the completed peptide. To finish everything off, our local San Diego and RTP customers will have the products hand delivered to their lab.

Right now we are still celebrating the release of peptide synthesis, so we are offering a discount of 20% off to everyone who orders until August 20, 2009. If you have any questions feel to contact peptide@etonbio.com or visit http://etonbio.com/peptides/peptideService.php .
